What happens during a home visit?
Your physical therapist asks about the problem and what you’d like to do more easily. They check your strength, movement, and balance, then explain what the findings mean for treatment.
You’ll practice exercises and learn what to work on between visits. When useful, the appointment can include the actual stairs or household movements that have become difficult.
What do you need at home?
You don’t need a home gym. Your physical therapist brings a treatment table and portable equipment when needed and can work with the equipment you already use.
Your follow-up visits
Your physical therapist reviews how you’re moving and how the exercises feel between appointments. The amount and difficulty of practice are adjusted to reflect your response.
After a joint replacement, care follows your surgeon’s guidance while working toward your own goals. Those goals can include a return to exercise as well as greater comfort at home.
Is this the same as home health?
