Everything you need to know about private sports rehab.

Can in-home physical therapy really challenge an athlete?

Yes. The level of challenge should match your current ability, injury, sport, and goals—not the building where treatment takes place. Dr. Zak brings portable strength, mobility, balance, and assessment equipment and can work with the equipment you already have. When appropriate, sessions can also take place in your home gym, driveway, office gym, or another suitable training space so movement can be assessed in a relevant environment.

Are you just going to tell me to stop lifting or running?

Not automatically. Some injuries require temporary restrictions, but the usual goal is to keep you as active as your condition safely allows. Your training can be modified around painful or irritable movements while the affected area is gradually exposed to appropriate loading. Recommendations are adjusted according to your symptoms, examination findings, healing stage, and response to activity.

I have health insurance. Why should I pay out of pocket?

Private concierge care may make sense if you value treatment at your home or training space, continuity with the same physical therapist, and focused one-on-one appointments. Your actual cost depends on your insurance plan, so private care is not automatically more or less expensive than an in-network option. Argan Physiotherapy is out of network for most commercial plans and is enrolled with Medicare. Coverage and patient responsibility are reviewed before scheduling. HSA or FSA funds may be used when eligible, and a detailed superbill can be provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.

I’ve tried PT before and it didn’t work. Why is this different?

A previous course of physical therapy may have reduced symptoms without preparing you for the actual demands of running, lifting, golf, combat sports, or recreational activity. This process starts by reassessing your current movement, strength, mobility, tolerance, and training demands. Your program can then progress from symptom-guided exercise toward the strength, control, power, and workload required for the activities you want to resume.

What if I have a flare-up after a weekend game or heavy lift?

You have a direct line for brief questions and guidance between appointments. Depending on what happened, Dr. Zak may recommend modifying your next workout, monitoring specific symptoms, moving your appointment sooner, or seeking medical evaluation. Text access is not an emergency service, but it can help you make a more informed decision instead of guessing until the next visit.

Do I need a fully equipped home gym for you to treat me?

No. Dr. Zak brings a portable treatment table and the equipment needed for the assessment and planned session. Many mobility, strength, balance, and return-to-activity exercises can be performed with portable equipment, body weight, and the space already available to you. A clear area of roughly 6 by 6 feet is usually enough, and your own gym equipment can be incorporated when useful.

Will you communicate with my personal trainer or swing coach?

Yes, with your permission. Coordination can help your rehabilitation and regular training support the same goals. Dr. Zak can explain which movements or workloads are being modified, what can continue, and how activity may be progressed. Communication is tailored to the information your coach needs while respecting your privacy.
